The genome of Haberlea rhodopensis provides insights into the mechanisms for tolerance to multiple extreme environments

Abstract: Haberlea rhodopensis, a resurrection species, is the only plant known to be able to survive multiple extreme environments, including desiccation, freezing temperatures, and long-term darkness. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying tolerance to these stresses are poorly studied. Here, we present a high-quality genome of Haberlea and found that ~ 23.55% of the 44,306 genes are orphan.
