The genome sequence of the cinnamon sedge caddisfly, Limnephilus marmoratus (Curtis, 1834)

Abstract: We present a genome assembly from an individual Limnephilus marmoratus (a caddisfly; Arthropoda; Insecta; Trichoptera; Limnephilidae). The genome sequence is 1,630 megabases in span. Most of the assembly (99.93%) is scaffolded into 30 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the assembled Z sex chromosome. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 15.4 kilobases in length.

“…In this study, we report eight new full-length h-fibroin sequences for caddisflies across a diverse set of silk usage. Two of these were generated from new genomic resources, whereas five were mined from previously published genomes, 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 highlighting the relevance of genome sequencing projects for the wider scientific community. The new full-length h-fibroins represent a substantial increase in the number of genomic resources available for the study of caddisfly silk and allowed us to compare the major silk gene for eleven species across the primary clades of Trichoptera, in which species exhibit different silk usage.…”
