“…In the Southern Tablelands, north-east of the high country, at the Lake George sites of Nardoo (Flood 1980), ELG1 (Hughes et al 1984) and WE-1 (Hughes et al 2014), the technological transition from backed artefact and from non-quartz dominance to bipolar-rich and quartz dominance has indeed been reported, although the archaeological deposits at two of the sites (ELG-1 and WE-1) are undated and only one date was obtained from the other (Nardoo). An unpublished excavation at Butmaroo 1, also at Lake George, does not appear to show the transition; rather, a quartz industry is labelled as underlying "Bondaian" sediments (J. Allen & R. Jones, unpublished data, 1990).…”

“…2 as a dotted line with a shaded minimum/maximum depth range. Hughes et al (2014) directly dated shorelines S12 (11 m ALB) and S13 (10.5 m ALB) of the Distal Woolshed Embankment (Fig. 1b) using the Australian Slide OSL measurement procedure that was popular in the 1990s, but prone to erroneous results (Fullagar et al, 1996;Roberts et al, 1999).…”

“…We have also included: 1) the unpublished OSL ages (±2σ) of Pietsch (2006) from the Fernhill Gully site (Fig. 1b; unfilled squares); 2) the minimum OSL age estimates (±2σ) of Hughes et al (2014) from the Upper (black squares) and Lower Distal Woolshed Embankments (grey squares) at their reported heights (Fig. 1b); and 3) a modified version of the OSL data (±2σ) presented in Fitzsimmons and Barrows (2010).…”
