The geoarchaeology of a terraced landscape: From Aztec Matlatinco to modern Calixtlahuaca By AleksanderBorejsza, Isabel RodríguezLópez, Charles D.Frederick, and Michael E.Smith, Salt Lake City: University of Utah Press. 2021. pp. 370. $85 (hardback)

Antony G. Brown

Abstract: This book is an in-depth investigation into the landscapes, geoarchaeology, and textual evidence of a 'forgotten' Aztec capital in Central Mexico. It is based on survey and excavations that took place 2006-2007 directed by Michael Smith. However, the volume is much more than an account of the excavation or excavation report, covering both landscape/geoarchaeological questions (e.g., what is a terrace) and more theoretical questions (e.g., landesque capital).
