Abstract: Keratinocytes exposed to UVB induce the production of cytokines, which activate fibroblasts and increase the expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). The increased expression of MMPs leads to connective tissue damage and wrinkle formation, resulting in skin aging.
