Improvement of the production technology of periclase--chromite roof refractories with the aim of improving and stabilizing their properties is important in order to prolong the service life of the refractories. However, part of the output of the refractories plant does have properties satisfying the GOST requirements for dense products; the raw material and the conditions of preparation of the dense refractories are identical with those of the ordinary ones. Thus it was necessary to elucidate the influence of the technological parameters on the porosity P and spalling resistance (thermostability) T of the roof refractories, because these properties are crucial for the qualification of the products as dense.To establish the optimal technological parameters for production of roof refractories we performed a complex of laboratory investigations by means of the method of design of experiments.
