The hip

Abstract: Arthritis of the hip may appear at any time during the course of chronic inflammatory joint disease.Using modern methods, favorable results can be expected from cemented hip prostheses.Often, rheumatic patients are young at the time of surgery, hence creating a risk that the prosthesis will wear out and loosen.Wear-related problems in a prosthesis may be decreased by using articular heads that are smaller and of higher quality.
