The History of the Usage of GIS Technologies in Ecological and Faunistic Research

Abstract

The article provides a brief overview of the historical stages of the development of geographic information systems and describes the experience of their use in ecological and faunistic studies. The examples of using GIS for the ecological, geographical and spatial analysis of different groups of animals are given in this work.
