Abstract:This article examines the connection, personal and intellectual, between David Hume and Edmund Burke. Scholars have often compared the two thinkers, mainly in an unsystematic and selective way. Burke's early biographers regarded them as opposite figures on account of Hume's religious and philosophical scepticism and Burke's devout Christian faith.
