The travel and tourism sector plays an increasingly important role in economic growth and development in Vietnam. Vietnam's tourism brand has increasingly reached out, attracting tourists from many countries and territories. The article analyzes the situation of attracting international tourists to Vietnam in the period 2007 - 2019 in terms of source-market, means of transportation and income level of tourists. Thereafter, the study evaluates the sucess as well as the limitations in attracting international tourists of Vietnam. Research results show that the main market of Vietnam's tourism is Asia, Europe, America and Australia. Visitors arriving by air accounted for over 80% of total tourist arrivals to Vietnam during the period. High-income tourists are mainly from Europe, America and Australia while others are mainly from Asia. On the basic of achievements and limitations, the study recommends solutions to attract international tourists to Vietnam in the future, focusing on issues related to aviation and tourism services infrastructure improvement, tourism products and services diversification, travel and tourism priority, human resources improvement along with some other social issues.
