“…Tiredness, tension, depression, restlessness, initial insomnia (difficulty falling asleep), and difficulty staying awake during the day, sleeping too much and feeling sick were the most prevalent individual ADRs in this study. Similar to this research, some other studies had found psychic and extrapyramidal ADRs to be most prevalent 8,30,31 and anticholinergic ADRs least prevalent. 8 Likewise, tiredness, memory problems, tension, depression, restlessness, and concentration problems were among the most prevalent ADRs of Day et al's 31 findings.…”

However, inconsistent with the Day et al study, anticholinergic ADRs including dry mouth and blurred vision were less prevalent in this study, which could be attributed to the sparse prescription or availability of anticholinergic drugs in Eritrea.…”

“…The term "adverse effects" is preferred to the euphemistic term "side effects" to draw attention to the medically signi fi cant as well as unpleasant nature of many of these, as well as to their strong association with non-adherence to recommended treatment [ 40,78 ] . Common adverse effects include excessive sedation, fatigue, decreased alertness, decreased or slowed motility, and an overall burden of nonspeci fi c effects of the "medicated state."…”

“…Menstrual dysfunction is common in women with schizophrenia and is at least partially accounted for by antipsychotic induced hyperprolactinaemia (Chiang et al, 2011;Magharious et al, 1998;Prentice and Deakin, 1992;Smith et al, 2002;Wieck and Haddad, 2003). Irregular menses are usually associated with anovulation (Munro et al, 2011) and therefore lack of rise in oestradiol levels in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle.…”
