The Impact of Eosinophil Cationic Protein on Nasal Epithelial Cells: An Investigation of Cellular Responses

Abstract: Introduction The impact of eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) on nasal epithelial cells remains unclear. Our study investigated whether ECP could activate nasal epithelial cells to secrete interleukin 8 (IL-8). Materials and Methods The airway epithelial cells, NCI-H292, were cultured separately and exposed to varying concentrations of ECP for 2, 4, 6, 16, or 24 hours.
