The publishing material of art history pedagogy is known to have too many facts and students need to digest lots of information. The alternative methods of teaching and learning have become more reliable when technology-based methods have been found to be an effective pedagogical material. This study aims to design and develop an ArtHis Interactive Module for teaching and learning art history in Visual Art Education. For this reason, this study also investigates the impact of its usability in classroom and assesses the learning motivation of Visual Art students simultaneously. In this study, the Design and Developmental Research (DDR) method was used. For the most part, the ArtHis Interactive Module is developed by using ADDIE Model by considering the elements of design, technical, pedagogical, and the content which is appropriate to achieve the objectives stated in Visual Art Education syllabus. Specifically, the development process was guided and supported by Dual Coding Theory and Flow Theory for information processing. For this purpose, the research focused on Form 5 Visual Art students. Microsoft PowerPoint was used to produce the interactive module with the aim of enhancing the students’ motivation in learning Art History. The finding shows that the impact of learning art history using ArtHis Interactive Module has improved students’ conceptual understanding. It is also determined that 93.9 percent students agree that the exercises in the ArtHis Interactive Module help them to gauge their level of understanding and knowledge on the topics in Art History. In conclusion, ArtHis Interactive Module is used for the purpose of improving teaching methods and increasing the motivation of students in Visual Art Education especially Art History topics.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaksimalkan serta mempermudah mahasiswa dalam menggunakan tools Microsoft Word dan PowerPoint sebagai media penulisan tugas akhir. Pelatihan ini diikuti 23 mahasiswa tingkat akhir pada program studi Manajemen Informatika Politeknik Pratama Mulia Surakarta (Politama) yang beralamat di Jl. Haryo Panular No.18A, Panularan, Kec. Laweyan, Kota Surakarta, Jawa Tengah. Pelatihan ini dilakukan secara kombinasi yaitu dalam jaringan (DARING) dan luar jaringan (LURING) dengan tetap memperhatikan protokol kesehatan karena sedang dalam masa pandemic Covid-19. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan pada Sabtu, 30 oktober 2021 yang bertempat di laboratorium Manajemen Perusahaan Politama Surakarta. Pertemuan sesi pertama memberikan materi tentang tools Microsoft Word yang disampaikan oleh saudara Izzan Julda dan sesi kedua materi PowerPoint disampaikan oleh saudara Aldi Rifki, dilanjutkan dengan tanya jawab mahasiswa terkait materi yang disampaikan. Hasil pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai presentase meningkat setelah dilakukan pelatihan Microsoft Word dan PowerPoint. Hasil ini mengindikasikan adanya peningkatan dalam pengetahuan dan soft skill tentang tools Microsoft Word dan PowerPoint.This study aims to maximize and facilitate students in using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint tools as media for writing their final project. This training was attended by 23 last year students in the Informatics Management study program at the Pratama Mulia Surakarta Politeknik (Politama), whose address is Jl. Haryo Panular No. 18A, Panularan, Kec. Laweyan, Surakarta City, Central Java. This training is carried out online and offline, while still paying attention to health protocols due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This training was held on Saturday, 30 October 2021, at the Surakarta Politama Company Management laboratory. The first meeting session provided material on Microsoft Word tools delivered by Izzan Julda and the second session presented PowerPoint material by Aldi Rifki, followed by questions and answers from students regarding the material presented. The pre-test and post-test results showed that the percentage score increased after the Microsoft Word and PowerPoint training. These results indicate increased knowledge and soft skills in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint tools.

PowerPoint-based lectures and students’ experiences in Eritrean Higher Education Institutions

PowerPoint (PPT) is extensively used in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), including those in Eritrea, for lecture delivery and student presentations. This raises questions about whether these lectures or student presentations are effectively designed and implemented and encourage students’ participation. This study explores instructors’ use of PPT-based lectures and students’ experience in Eritrean HEIs. Additionally, it seeks to identify and understand the challenges HEIs face in using PPT-based teaching. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and observations, involving nine instructors and fifteen students from three Eritrean HEIs. The study indicated a relationship between PPT design and delivery and revealed varied outcomes regarding the design and delivery of PPT-based lectures. The study also found discipline-specific differences regarding students’ experiences of PPT-based delivery. Moreover, it identified challenges related to institutional leadership, curriculum flexibility, internet access, and pedagogical expertise and commitment of instructors as key obstacles to the successful integration of PPT-based lectures within these institutions.
