“…The data coming from the project on IPF was the baseline assessment of a longitudinal cohort study aiming to investigate clinical endpoints and prognosis in interstitial lung diseases. Even though there were some longitudinal data involved in the projects, all the data analysed in the present study were collected at the baseline moment only [14][15][16][17]. None of the mentioned projects had any impact on subjects' PADL at the baseline time; therefore, the present results were not influenced by the fact that a secondary analysis of partial data collected in other projects was performed.…”

Subjects were consecutively assessed/included in each of these three previous projects, and included currently in the present analysis if they fulfilled the following criteria: they had to be diagnosed with COPD, asthma (adults) or IPF according to international criteria [7,8,18,19]; they should have been clinically stable for at least four weeks prior to their baseline assessment (i.e., no exacerbation of the disease); they could not have participated in pulmonary rehabilitation programmes in the previous year; they could not have more than one of the respiratory diseases concomitantly; they could not have any severe orthopaedic, neurological, cognitive and/or psychiatric impairment hindering mobility.…”
