The impact of tobacco smoking in patients taking long-action injection drugs – A retrospective comparative study between haloperidol and risperidone

Abstract: IntroductionSmoking rate seems to be higher among patients with schizophrenia, comparing to other psychiatric entities, mainly in those who are on typical antipsychotics. Tobacco is known to have enzyme inducer properties, due to cytochrome P450 complex activity: CYP1A1, CYP1A2, CYP2E1 and CYP2D6.
