The impacts of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) on information security: a literature review

Abstract

The information age has brought significant transformations to modern life, including task automation and widespread access to services. As the utilization of diverse platforms continues to grow, safeguarding information has become paramount to protecting the data shared by individuals and organizations. In Brazil, the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) was created to ensure the protection of personal data. This paper presents a literature review on the LGPD and its intricate connection with information security. We conducted the research using Google Scholar, resulting in the selection of 62 papers for analysis. We observed a predominance of studies published in the field of Law, while only a few publications originate from computer science. Most of these studies adopt an exploratory approach, employing bibliographic procedures, and the course completion works predominated. In summary, the results provide insights for those interested in data protection in compliance with the LGPD.
