Indonesia as the largest archipelagic country has considerable potential with vast areas of water that can be utilized, but it must be accompanied by strict supervision because of many illegal practices such as IUU Fishing. This problem becomes important to deal with because Indonesia's maritime potential cannot be maximized as long as IUU Fishing practices remain. The author(s) formulated a problem in the form of "How does protect Indonesian waters against the practice of IUU Fishing?" The author(s) uses a qualitative descriptive method to analyze the problem of how IUU Fishing can be handled in Indonesian waters. The theory used is the Collective Security proposed by A.F.K Organski. In this paper, we argued that there must be decisive action to stop the activities of IUU Fishing and the government is expected to immediately pay attention to the importance of protecting Indonesian territorial waters from lurking hazards. Not only the danger of smuggling of goods and other information but also, activities such as violating ship crossings culminating in illegal fishing. It must be dealt with a strong legal basis so that in the future, it will become a warning for other countries that Indonesia is serious in safeguarding its sovereignty

Human trafficking in the fisheries industry is one of the threats to the security and sovereignty of Indonesia’s territorial waters other than Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing. The research about workers in the field of fisheries has not been done much. This article focuses on human trafficking in the fishing industry that takes place in Benjina, Indonesia’s sovereign territory. Human trafficking is related to organized transnational crime and actions that violate human rights. This article uses library research as a writing method. This article aims to discuss international norms governing human trafficking, especially in the fishing industry. This article concludes that internationally there have been several relevant international conventions on ships in general and fishing vessels that have been in effect for a long time. However, Indonesia has not ratified some of them. Moreover, the efforts of the Indonesian government in handling human trafficking in its sovereign territory are divided through the handling of the defendant under Law No. 21 of 2007 on Crime of Human Trafficking and assisted the victims with assistance facilitated by IOM.

The ocean and its marine resources play an important role in providing sources of livelihood to the Indonesian people. Indonesia is currently dealing with a major plastic waste problem, and this, in turn, also impacts the marine environment since the plastic waste ends up in the ocean. The issue of marine pollution is regulated under international conventions such as the MARPOL and UNCLOS, though none is specifically addressing marine plastic waste. Moreover, Indonesia has enacted several regulations to manage marine plastic waste, including Presidential Regulation Number 83 of 2018 on Marine Waste Management, and Indonesian citizens have taken an active role in reducing plastic waste. However, stricter and more specific regulations are needed as guidelines for the long-term strategy in handling marine plastic pollution in Indonesia, and proper analysis on the impact of such regulation towards the stakeholders and affected parties would be needed.
