“…Cronbach's Alpha coefficients were calculated to assess the internal consistencies of the four quality of life domains. Some studies have highlighted the importance of considering QoL in older adults at a facet rather than domain level [56,57]. Therefore, PCA was used to derive a general quality of life factor for each cohort from all 26 items of the WHOQOL-BREF.…”

“…Even though many studies (Orfila et al 2006;Hsu 2007;Netuveli and Blane 2008;Molzahn et al 2010;Webb et al 2011) have demonstrated the importance of QoL in older adults, in Chile there are few publications devoted to it. A study done in older people in Antofagasta, Chile, found that people perceiving themselves as sick had significantly lower quality of life (Urzua et al 2011).…”

“…In a systematic review, Brown et al [34] found that good health and being independent and active were very important quality of life components for older persons. In a large sample of over 7000 adults from 22 countries, Molzhan et al [42] found that having the ability to perform activities of daily living, being healthy, sensory abilities, mobility, freedom, independence, and energy were most important. In a Norwegian study on factors related to QoL among healthy and hospitalized older adults, factors related to cognitive functioning and self-determination were important.…”
