The increasing use and prominence of web archives raises the urgency of establishing mechanisms for transparency in the making of web archives to facilitate the process of evaluating a web archive's provenance, scoping, and absences. Some choices and process events are captured automatically, but their interactions are not currently well understood or documented.This study examines the decision space of web archives and its role in shaping what is and what is not captured in the web archiving process. By comparing how three different web archives collections were created and documented, we investigate how curatorial decisions interact with technical and external factors and we compare commonalities and differences.The findings reveal the need to understand both the social and technical context that shapes those decisions and the ways in which these individual decisions interact. Based on the study, we propose a framework for documenting key dimensions of a collection that addresses the situated nature of the organizational context, technical specificities, and unique characteristics of web materials that are the focus of a collection. The framework enables future researchers to undertake empirical work studying the process of creating web archives collections in different contexts.

Background of the study: website preservation should be explored due to several reasons. First, the theme website preservation is classified into a new field so there is a limited number of scientific articles discussing to this topic; Second, website preservation is not an easy task due to its potential challenge. Third, preserving website is an efford to maintain accestability to beneficial resources for future generations. Purpose: This paper will explore benefits and drawbacks in preserving websites. It also discuss problem and solution during website preservation process. The result of discussion will benefit for library manager to formulate an accurate policy on how to maintain accessibility of library’s website. Method: Reviewing literature is an analyses method in this paper Findings: Findings shows that website preservation has a lot of benefits rather than its drawbacks. The website preservation will support humanities researchers to collective memories to special events or importance person in the past; the website preservation assures accesstability to heritage data and it offers opportunity for library to collaborate in developing heritage database. Conclusion: Website preservation will have a lot of benefits rather than drawbacks. Library will be able to develop collective memory for future generations by preserving website contents. In addition, the website preservation also offers efficiency in collecting and managing metadata due to its advance technology.

To identify robots and humans and analyze their respective access patterns, we used the Internet Archive's (IA) Wayback Machine access logs from 2012 and 2019, as well as Arquivo.pt's (Portuguese Web Archive) access logs from 2019. We identified user sessions in the access logs and classified those sessions as human or robot based on their browsing behavior. To better understand how users navigate through the web archives, we evaluated these sessions to discover user access patterns. Based on the two archives and between the two years of IA access logs (2012 vs. 2019), we present a comparison of detected robots vs. humans and their user access patterns and temporal preferences. The total number of robots detected in IA 2012 is greater than in IA 2019 (21% more in requests and 18% more in sessions). Robots account for 98% of requests (97% of sessions) in Arquivo.pt (2019). We found that the robots are almost entirely limited to "Dip" and "Skim" access patterns in IA 2012, but exhibit all the patterns and their combinations in IA 2019. Both humans and robots show a preference for web pages archived in the near past.
