“…SARS‐CoV‐2 can transport into wastewater from infected stool and urine and, depending on the treatment method, can remain in the water after the effluent has been treated, as shown in studies discussed earlier in this article. The treated wastewater could be discharged into a containment area (Thakur et al, 2021) where it could spread to people via aerosolization, an infection process discussed in the above paragraph and, if leaching occurs, the virus could contaminate the underlying aquifers and eventually infect people.
