The Influence of an Oxidation Step in the Adsorbed Layer on the ip vs. Sweep Rate Relationship. — A Diagnostic Criterium Based on the Linear Sweep Voltammetric Method

Abstract: A new diagnostic criterium has been deduced for an electrochemical system adsorbed which oxidizes, giving rise to a new adsorbed intermediate. The rate equations, combined with linear sweep conditions lead to ip vs. ν (sweep rate) plots, which are linear for low scan rates and tend to a limiting value at higher sweep rates. Two examples of this very frequent behaviour are given.
