This study examined the impact of COVID-19 on 28 indicators of match technical performance (MTP) for football attacking players upon their return to play. Analyzing data from 100 players in the Big Five European football leagues, covering 1500 matches each before and after COVID-19 over 3 years (2020–2023), revealed significant differences in 76% of players’ MTP indicators. Notably, 14 indicators, particularly the five indicators linked to scoring, significantly decreased post-COVID-19. On average, players needed 3.09 matches to regain pre-infection MTP levels. The impact varied across player groups, with those in the elite group showing a milder effect; they required an average of 2.64 matches for recovery, compared to the control group’s 3.55 matches. We found that, with increasing age, the majority of players’ MTP indicators did not exhibit significant changes, both before and after they contracted COVID-19. In conclusion, the study highlighted the negative impact of COVID-19 on football attacking players’ MTP. Players in the elite group experienced fewer adverse effects than those in the control group. This insight assisted coaches and managers in evaluating the impact of COVID-19 and similar virus-induced illnesses on players’ MTP, enabling them to formulate training regimens for recovery and specific match tactics upon players' return to play.

The use of technology in evaluating the results of football matches has been used in various countries. This study aimed to identify and analyze the match results of the Argentina national team as the 2022 World Cup champion team. This research was a descriptive quantitative research that was analyzed in statistical form. The data sources were collected by the researcher by analyzing statistical data and video recordings of matches from the official FIFA website, Whoscored and Vidio. A total of 7 matches had been played by the Argentina national team in the 2022 World Cup competition, analyzed in terms of goals, ball possession, attempts at goal, direction of attack, distribution and defense. The results showed that most goals were scored in the 31-45th minute and most conceded in the 76-90 th minute, with the most ways being open play, most goals scored in area 3 with the striker being the top scorer. Argentina is quite dominant and controls the match in ball possession, attempt on target and total distribution (passing success, crossing success, and line breaks success) in every match with many attacks started from the right. When carrying out defensive pressure and tackles, Argentina is also more effective than its opponent. In this study, it could be concluded that the parameters to achieve victory were not only from ball possession, attempt success, and passing success but also seen from distribution parameters (crossing and line break success) and defensive parameters, especially defensive pressure which was also an indicator of team success in a match. It is hoped that in the future there will be further research discussing the successful journey of a team in several competitions followed by analysis parameters that are not much different, especially with a more detailed analysis of distribution and defense systems.

Multidisciplinary perspectives on equality and diversity in sportsAlbeit some exceptions, athletes, practitioners, decision and policymakers, and sports spectators are predominantly men. In this sense, gender segregation and discrimination are present in multiple aspects of sports, and are socially normalised and accepted through a discourse that essentialises the embodied sexual differences between genders. This gender discourse legitimises the exclusion of women in some sports modalities considered masculine and traped them to those considered as predominantly feminine and feminized It traps female bodies in socio-cultural constructions as less able to exercise and engage in sport or as the second and weaker version of the ideal masculine body.Sports and its management continue to be a field where men and masculinity strongly prevail. The International Congress on Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Equality and Diversity in Sport (ICMPEDS) aimed to investigate the complexities of the following questions: What does gender openness mean in the context of sport in the 21st century? What persists as gender closure in the same context? What are the gender cultures that signify sport continuing to be defined by regimes that resort to dominant masculinity embodied in a strong and male athletic body? Which factors are assessed as the driving forces of these gender cultures that reveal male dominance in the sports field? However, there are significant signs that the context of sport may be changing. The European Union and some national governments have efforted to promote gender equality and diversity by fostering the adoption of gender equality codes/policies in various modalities, and international and local sports organizations. These new policies aim to increase female participation and recognition in sports, their access to leadership positions and involvement in the decision-making in sport structures. Additionally, the number of women practising non-competitive sports and as sports spectators have started growing. This improvement leads to new representations of sports and challenges the roles of women in such a context. Different body constructions and the emergence of alternative embodied femininities and masculinities are also challenging how athletes of both genders experience their bodies and sports practice. Nevertheless, the research on the impacts of these changes/challenges in sports is scarce. This book focuses on mapping gender relations in sports and its management by considering the different modalities, contexts, institutional policies, organizational structures and actors.
