The Influence of Different Curing Environments on the Mechanical Properties and Reinforcement Mechanism of Dredger Fill Stabilized with Cement and Polypropylene Fibers

Ying Wang,
Chaojie Wang,
Zhenhua Hu
et al.

Abstract: An effective method widely used in geotechnical engineering to solve the shrinkage and cracking issues in cement-stabilized soil (CS) is evenly mixing randomly distributed fibers into it. Dredger fills stabilized with cement and polypropylene fibers (PFCSs) are exposed to rainwater immersion and seawater erosion in coastal areas, influencing their mechanical performance and durability. In this study, direct shear and consolidation compression tests were conducted to investigate the influence of different curin… Show more

“…A Nova NanoSEM450 scanning electron microscope was used for SEM imaging. AFCS specimens were taken from the fractured samples, and the test procedure for SEM imaging followed by Wang et al [44] was used for the research specimens with a curing time of 28 days. The specimens consisted of AFCS with different contents and lengths of alginate fiber, as well as AFCS after immersion and AFCS after freezing and thawing.…”

“…Accidents resulting from insufficient freezing strength have occurred frequently during engineering construction, drawing considerable attention from scholars [7]. Unconfined compressive strength (UCS), as a vital indicator reflecting the physical-mechanical properties of soil in engineering, finds extensive application across various fields [8][9][10]. It commonly serves as a basis for studying the reinforcement level of soil after freezing.…”
