The influence of factors on the yields of two raspberry varieties (Rubus idaeus L.) and the economic results

Abstract: The research was carried out in the years 2015–2018 on the commercial plantations of a horticultural farm. The analysis focused on the yields of two raspberry cultivars: ‘Polana’ and ‘Polka’, factoring in the influence of cultivation methods (in the ground; in the beds with an agrotextile), soil classes (IIIa; IVb), and plantation age (2–5 and 6–10 years). The commercial yields of fruit intended for processing were determined. The economic efficiency analysis of the production of both varieties was carried out… Show more

“…The level of yields is one of the most important determinants of fruit production profitability [Paszko 2006, Gołębiewska and Sobczak 2012, Wróblewska et al 2020. It is often of key importance in establishing the profitability of farms and according to Vittori et al [2018], it is taken into consideration by producers when choosing new varieties for cultivation.…”

“…It is often of key importance in establishing the profitability of farms and according to Vittori et al [2018], it is taken into consideration by producers when choosing new varieties for cultivation. Therefore, it largely determines the functioning, development and competitiveness of farms [Wróblewska et al 2020].…”

“…It is necessary to take into account that productivities can significantly vary depending on the location, climate conditions, agricultural practices and orchard age. As other orchards, raspberry yield is affected by the plantation age, and full crops normally are attained by the third growing season (Perasović 2013;Wróblewska et al 2020). In the evaluated crop, the age of the raspberry trees was 7 years, so the orchard has overcome this stage.…”

“…Organic farming involves using natural methods and minimizing the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. This approach aims to produce healthier fruit with less environmental impact and greater respect for biodiversity [6]. (b) Cultivation under cover: Many raspberry plantations use cover systems, such as foil tunnels or greenhouses.…”

“…In Europe, the raspberry is widespread, especially in the temperate breeding, the raspberry is now cultivated all over the world in various regions that provide appropriate climatic and soil conditions for this species. The raspberry is very popular among consumers due to its intense taste, attractive appearance, and health benefits [5,6]. There are several factors that influence the importance of the raspberry in the consumer market.…”
