“…More susceptible cultivars may warrant more careful monitoring and lower treatment thresholds compared to less suitable ones. Given that genotype x environment interactions (Gitonga et al, 2022) and fertilization regimes (Olyaie Torshiz et al, 2020) have the potential to affect the levels of polyphenolic compounds expressed in plants, further exploration could reveal cost-effective cultural means of enhancing their concentration in developing nuts. Polyphenols are powerful antioxidants with many health benefits (Wojdylo et al, 2022), so increasing their concentration in pistachio nuts would also enhance their value for human consumption.…”
