The Influence of Government Regulation on Farmers’ Green Production Behavior—From the Perspective of the Market Structure

Abstract: To clarify the factors influencing the green production behavior of peach farmers, this paper uses the survey data of 741 peach farmers in 19 provinces and cities in China, it uses a multiple ordered probit model to empirically analyze the impact of the government regulations on the green production behavior of peach farmers, from the perspective of the market structure. This paper also analyzes its intermediary role in this process, and it analyzes the possible heterogeneity at both the planting scale and the… Show more

“…Several factors and their interdependent relationships influence the LC production practices of farmers (Huang 2019;Ren 2021;Zhang 2021). Among these factors, internal motivation and external motivation are the two major drivers that encourage farmers to adopt LC production methods (Li 2020).…”

“…In recent years, Shaanxi has accelerated the rapid transformation from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture, and the comprehensive agricultural production capacity has obviously increased, with grain production exceeding 10 million tons year after year. However, there are still some problems, such as LC agricultural production technology bottleneck, extensive production mode, irrational structure of agricultural machinery and equipment, excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers, low acceptance of LC production mode by farmers, lack of LC awareness of farmers, and imperfect LC technology promotion system (Tang 2018;Yang 2020;Zhang 2021). Therefore, finding out the fundamental and long-term influencing factors of farmers' LCPB, exploring how to improve the initiative of small farmers to adopt LC production and form endogenous long-term mechanism to guide agriculture to LC, high-quality and efficient development has become the focus of current research.…”

“…How environmental regulation affects factor allocation is becoming an emerging hot topic [ 9 ]. Government regulation has a positive and significant impact on the green production behavior of the marine fishery industry [ 10 ], and it often uses environmental policy to induce green investment [ 11 ]. Although a series of special measures for the governance of offshore fishery resources have been successively introduced, on the whole, this has not solved the long-standing imbalance between “too many input elements” and “too much output.” The unreasonable structure of the fishery industry is inseparably related to the distortion of the factor market.…”

“…Consumer perception value is important as a trade-off between the cost consumers pay for a product or service and the benefits they perceive for that product or service [26], so the customer-perceived value should also be an important factor influencing brand image on consumption intention. In recent years, customer perceived value theory has been gradually applied to the field of agricultural economics to analyze the factors influencing farmers' intentions and behaviors [27], which suggests a logical relationship between green agriculture product brand image, customer perceived value and consumption intention.…”
