The influence of Li on the thermophysical properties of liquid Ga–Sn–Zn eutectic alloys

Abstract: The Ga-Li system is very attractive for the development of microelectronic and Li-ion cell applications as negative electrodes. In this study, thermophysical properties such as density, surface tension, viscosity, thermal and electrical conductivity, and thermoelectric power were investigated. Taking into account the intermetallic compounds occurring in Ga-Li, the measurements were conducted in a temperature range of 323-773 K. The experimentally obtained results revealed lower density and surface tension with… Show more

“…It is also worth noting that the mass density decreases with increasing concentration of Li in the Li–Ga–Sn system at any investigated temperatures. The mass density of liquid Li is equal to 0.5 g cm −3 46 and is one order of magnitude less than that of eutectic Ga 91.6 Sn 8.4 at the studied temperature (the calculated value is about 5.5 g cm −3 , and the experimental value is about 6.0 g cm −3 ), thus the resulting mass densities of Li–Ga–Sn alloys are lower than that of eutectic Ga 91.6 Sn 8.4 .…”
