Introduction. Modern conditions pose the task of modernizing education in general and searching for innovative meanings of upbringing in particular. The relevance of this issue is associated with the need to rethink the innovative meanings of upbringing and to identify qualities, structural elements, and associations, which were missing before. The aim of the study is to develop an innovative classification of games (necessary as a social navigator of personality development), representing a special innovative meaning of upbringing. Materials and methods. The study involved 86 practicing teachers and students of the Institute of Psychology and Pedagogy of I.A. Bunin Yelets State University (Russian Federation), students of pedagogical classes. All respondents had different work experience. The questionnaire contained 13 questions (9 – with a choice of answers and 4 – with a free interpretation of the answer). For statistical data processing, the methods of percentage distribution were used. Results. The empirical results showed that 63% of respondents had a positive attitude toward games and gaming activity, 67% preferred team games, 35% liked the game process itself, and 30% of respondents indicated the prospect of personality development as a motivation for the game. The study also demonstrated that despite the choice of six classes of games, the respondents gave priority to computer games (19%), board games (28%), action-oriented games (27%), and phygital games (16%). This state of affairs made it possible to develop an innovative classification of games as a navigator of personality development. Conclusion. The game as a social navigator of personality development and the author’s classification of games set innovative meanings of upbringing, related to the navigational component of personality development, specific classification of games, development of the game model, and improvement of the game technology/algorithm. The developed author’s classification of games has no exact counterparts in the practice of upbringing. Besides, the proposed author’s classification of games can be considered in terms of improving the methodological support for the modern upbringing process.

The knowledge-based approach of the PE subject involves the achievement of a mix between a theoretical and a practical component. This approach aims to provide the student with the necessary theoretical notions for an in-depth understanding of the role that practical activity plays in maintaining health. In this way, PE becomes a meaningful school subject for the student. Aim: This paper aims at testing the following hypotheses, built on the conclusions of previous studies: (1) PE teachers consider the theoretical content as less important than the practical one; (2) teachers would rather not deal with the implementation of theoretical content. Method: A data collection tool was devised taking as reference a group of 210 PE teachers, selected by mixed randomization from 7 counties of Romania. The obtained data were then analysed using the statistical programming language R (see 4.1.3). Results and discussions: Teachers value practical content more (4.948) than theoretical content (4.082). And we find this difference even after analysing the data according to the seniority of the teachers within the department. The lowest value is recorded when teachers were asked for their opinion related to the necessity of a PE textbook (3.063). Conclusions and future implications: The two components (theoretical and practical) are not equally appreciated by specialized teachers. This fact highlights the need to emphasise the role of theoretical knowledge within the PE lesson in the training of future teachers.

Optimizing Reaction Time in Relation to Manual and Foot Laterality in Children Using the Fitlight Technological Systems

The purpose of the study was to design and implement, in the physical and sports education process and in the motor evaluation process, a program of exercises and specific tests to optimize reaction time by using the Fitlight technological systems in relation to the manual and foot laterality of the pupils and identification of gender differences regarding the development of reaction speed. The study included 231 pupils, between 10 and 11 years old, who were divided into two groups according to gender, as follows: the male sample included 109 (97.32%) subjects, and the female sample included 103 (94.45%) participants. All subjects were identified with right manual and foot laterality. Both samples performed a specific exercise program to optimize reaction time in relation to manual and foot laterality by using Fitlight technologies. In the study, four tests were applied in order to evaluate reaction times using Fitlight, two in relation to the manual laterality and two with foot laterality, and the results were statistically processed with IBM SPPS Statistic 24 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA). Through the comparative analysis of the samples and the progress aimed at optimizing the reaction time specific to our study, it was found that the female sample recorded greater progress at the level of manual laterality, both for the right hand and for the left one, while the sample of boys recorded significant progress in terms of improving reaction time at the level of right and left foot laterality. At the foot laterality level, the results for the executions with the right foot were better in the simple test with four Fitlight spotlights in a line, and for the complex test, with eight Fitlight spotlights in a square, the results were better in the executions with the left foot. This reveals the fact that the greater the execution complexity, the better the motor prevalence on the left side.
