The influence of multivitamin intake on survival patterns in patients with colorectal cancer

Abstract

After a thorough review of the latest study by He and colleagues, we are excited by their findings in patients with nonmetastatic colorectal cancer: moderate doses of multivitamin supplements (from three to five pills per week) are associated with lower colorectal cancer-specific and overall mortality rates, whereas high doses (≥10 pills per week) may be associated with higher colorectal cancer-specific mortality rates. 1 However, we believe that several key potential issues may affect the interpretation of the study results.
