The Influence of PH on the Stability of N‐Chloro‐2‐Ethylaminoethanol

Abstract: Studying the kinetic behaviour of the system 2-ethylminoethanol+hypochlorite under various experimental conditions shows that the rapid formation of N-chloro-2-ethylminoethanol (tl12<1 min) is followed by its slower decomposition, the exact rate of decanposition depending on the pH of the medium. N-chloro-2-ethylminoethanol is most stable in the range pH 4.5-7.0, where its half-life is approximately 12.0 davs at 25'C.
