The Influence of Plastic Deformation on Internal Friction in Tantalum-Hydrogen Alloys

Abstract: Low frequency i n t e r n a l f r i c t i o n h a s been measured f o r p l a s t i c a l l y deformed tantalum charged w i t h hydrogen over t h e temperature range from 90 t o 475K.A f t e r changing t h e a-peak (H-SK-Peak) i s depressed, but a prec i p i t a t i o n peak of hydrides appears a t h i g h e r temperature.An a d d i t i o n a l t o r s i o n p l a s t i c deformation ( t w i s t ) shows a remarkable e f f e c t on t h e precip i t a t i o n peak.
