Background: Many medical students experience heavy occupational stress during their long education period. Occupational stress can be affected by several factors, including spiritual intelligence. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the level of occupational stress in medical interns during the COVID-19 pandemic and the effect of spiritual intelligence. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 209 medical interns at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (Tehran, Iran) in the autumn of 2020. Eligible medical students answered two online questionnaires: the Opisow occupational stress questionnaire and the King Spiritual Intelligence Questionnaire. Data were analyzed in SPSS 16 and EQS6.1 using structural equation modeling. Results: The mean occupational stress score and the mean spiritual intelligence score of the participants were 184.57 ± 23.57 and 50.44 ± 13.97, respectively. All the model fitness indices were in the acceptable range (CMIN/df = 2.3, RMSEA = 0.07, GFI = 0.91, and CFI = 0.93); thus, the proposed model was confirmed. Spiritual intelligence was a factor affecting occupational stress (β = -0.45). Besides, all of the subscales of spiritual intelligence negatively affected occupational stress with the following effect sizes: transcendent awareness (β = -0.53), critical existential thinking (β = -0.43), production of personal meaning (β = -0.41), and consciousness state expansion (β = -0.27). Conclusions: According to the model fitness indices, it can be concluded that the proposed model was acceptable. All subscales of spiritual intelligence had a negative impact on occupational stress.

Aim This study investigated the impact of spiritual intelligence and demographic factors in the prediction of occupational stress, quality of life and coronavirus anxiety among nurses. Design A cross‐sectional study was planned. Methods The study was conducted among full‐time nurses who were employed in two teaching hospitals of Babol city which were referral centres for caring patients infected with COVID‐19 from February–May 2021. One hundred and twenty‐nine nurses completed five questionnaires including the demographic questions, Quality of life (WHOQOL‐BRIF), Occupational Role Questionnaire (ORQ), Spiritual Intelligence and Coronavirus Anxiety Scale. Results The findings revealed that 69% of the nurses experienced moderate occupational stress, moderate quality of life and low coronavirus anxiety. Spiritual intelligence was the only significant negative predictor of occupational stress ( β = −0.517, p = <0.001). The only positive predictor of quality of life was perceived income adequacy. Predicting factors of coronavirus anxiety were the perceived income adequacy as protective ( β = −0.221, p = 0.022) and the number of children as predisposing ( β = 0.401, p = 0.004) factors. These findings should be considered when planning nursing interventions for improvement of occupational stress, quality of life and anxiety especially during crises like the COVID‐19 pandemic.

Purpose- Several critical factors contribute to employees' satisfaction or an attempt to stay with an organization. This paper aimed to explore the impact of emotional and spiritual intelligence on job satisfaction and turnover intention among employees in the telecommunication companies in Ghana. Design/Methodology- A cross-section research design approach was adopted. A questionnaire was used to gather data from employees in MTN, Vodafone, and Airtel-Tigo in the Kumasi Metropolis Ghana through a simple random sampling approach. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (version 26) was to process data into tables and figures to help us undertake the descriptive, correlation, and multiple regression analysis. Findings- The study results indicate that emotional intelligence positively influences the job satisfaction and turnover intentions of employees. Spiritual Intelligence was found to influence job satisfaction positively but had a negative impact on the turnover intention of employees in mobile telecommunication companies. Practical Implications- The findings highlight the relevance of emotional and spiritual intelligence in promoting job satisfaction and turnover intention relative to emotional intelligence specifically. Furthermore, it would aid organizations in the sector with a huge workforce and large customer base to critically assess issues relating to emotional and spiritual intelligence to enhance job satisfaction and minimize the intent to leave the organization.
