The influence of spring length on the physical parameters of simple harmonic motion

Abstract: The aim of this work is to analyse the influence of spring length on the simple harmonic motion of a spring–mass system. In particular, we study the effect of changing the spring length on the elastic constant k, the angular frequency ω and the damping factor γ of the oscillations. To characterize the behaviour of these variables we worked with a series of springs of seven different lengths, in which the elastic constant was found by means of the spring-elongation measurement and ω was obtained from the measur… Show more

“…Así, se define resorte "ideal" de constante k E a un muelle sin masa, de longitud l 0 , para el cual su función "carga" es F E (x) para todo valor de x. En el trabajo de Triana y Fajardo de 2012 [6], puede verse que las constantes estática y dinámica de los resortes son iguales, mientras que, en las gráficas informadas por los mismos autores en 2013 [7], se observa que dichas constantes no coinciden.…”

“…Many different types of force sensors are available on the market, using several basic principles for the realization of the transduction of force into mechanical or electrical signals. As a result, many force sensors have been continually developed in the literature, such as spring force sensors [5][6][7][8], load-cell [9], Strain gauge dynamometer [10][11], piezoelectric force sensor [12][13], nanoforce sensor [14], magnetostrictive force sensor [15][16], cantilever force sensor [17], mechanoelectrical force sensors [18], high-sensitivity MEMS force sensor [19], and dual-range force sensor [20], and so on. Amongst the various force sensors which have been proposed, those spring force sensors are particularly popular since they are characterized by a low cost and simplicity.…”
