“…Nurses’ job satisfaction is referred to as: “nurses’ positive feelings in response to the work conditions that support their desired needs as the result of their evaluation of the value or equity in their work experience” (Liu, Aungsuroch, & Yunibhand, , p. 87). The causes of nurses’ job satisfaction have been found to be related to several factors, such as work environment (Van Bogaert, Clarke, Vermeyen, Meulemans, & Heyning, ), transformational leadership (Andrews, Richard, Robinson, Celano, & Hallaron, ), structural empowerment (Casey, Saunders, & O'Hara, ), social or organization support (Kwak, Chung, Xu, & Eun‐Jung, ), autonomy (Duffield, Roche, O'Brien‐Pallas, Catling‐Paull, & King, ) and nurse staffing (Aiken et al., ). “…Given the complex phenomenon of the UAE health care context this reinforces the need to identify the kind of leadership style that best suits its particular diversity and challenge. With this in mind the extensive work on leadership styles by Bass (1991, 1994) (for example Andrews, Richard, Robinson, Celano, & Hallaron, 2012;Antonakis, Avolio, & Sivasubramaniam, 2003;Kanste, Miettunen, & Kyngäs, 2007) was taken as a basis for the design of the present study. Avolio and Bass (1991) identify two major leadership styles: Transformational and transactional.…”

“…A su vez, el Institute of Medicine apoya lo descrito, planteando que "el liderazgo es esencial para lograr los objetivos relacionados con la calidad de los cuidados y seguridad de los pacientes" (11). Al mismo tiempo, señala el liderazgo transformacional, centrado en la calidad de la atención, como un elemento necesario en enfermeras(os) para hacer frente a las deficiencias del entorno de trabajo (11).…”
