“…It has been sug gested that prostaglandin (PG) plays a role in regulating urinary calcium excretion [4,5]. Buck et al proposed that the initiating factor for stone formation may be PG syn thesis, leading to hypercalciuria [6,7], In an animal exper iment, Buck et al [8] prevented nephrocalcinosis and hypercalciuria produced by the intraperitoneal injection of 10% calcium gluconate by feeding fish oil. Although hypercalciuria of the rats used in the experiment was induced by the injection of calcium rather than one of the aforementioned mechanisms, it is noteworthy that fish oil administration prevented the abnormalities.…”
