Climate change brings changes to the characteristics of rain and rain patterns so that it affects the flow of rivers. This study aims to determine the effect of climate change on river flood discharge by paying attention to rain patterns and rain characteristics. This research was conducted in the Bangga watershed, Indonesia. The methods used include Makesens, statistical standard deviation, Oldeman, Log Pearson III, and HSS Nakayasu. The data used is daily rainfall data for 29 years from Bangga Atas and Bangga Bawah stations. The results of this study are: the rain pattern for the last 10 years (2012-2021) remains the same as the previous 19 years (1993)(1994)(1995)(1996)(1997)(1998)(1999)(2000)(2001)(2002)(2003)(2004)(2005)(2006)(2007)(2008)(2009)(2010)(2011), namely Pattern B or Equatorial Pattern. Rainfall characteristics and climate change show an upward trend for the last 10 years compared to the previous 19 years. The design flood discharge for the last 10 years is greater than the previous 19 years for the 1.01 return period; 2; 5 years. Meanwhile, at other times the results are smaller. It can be concluded, that although there has been an increasing trend of rainfall in the last 10 years, it has not caused an increase in the design flood discharge for all return periods.

Semarang City has a low and flat topography in several areas so that it has a high risk of inundation during the rainy season with a spatial distribution in the city center area. In 2022 inundation floods have inundated 877.66 hectares, one of which is in the Tembalang area and its surroundings with a height of around 275 MDPL which occurred in 20 locations with an area of around 33.62 hectares, where the area is the downstream part of the Babon Watershed. The results of the analysis of rain in the Babon watershed area for 20 years show that it is relatively stable, not too much variation, where the results of calculating the rational flood discharge for 2022 with a return period of 2 years are around 25.80 m³/s. Furthermore, the morphometric analysis of the watershed shows that the shape of the Babon watershed is relatively elongated with a circularity ratio <0.50, the density index of the river is 0.25 – 10 km/km² which is in the medium density category with a relatively long Time Concentration (TC) of around 3.2 hours so that it is less thus impacting flooding downstream. The Babon watershed runoff coefficient is affected by land cover conditions, where the interpretation results show that there was a change in land cover from 2002 – 2022 for the area of built-up land which increased by 708.44 hectares and the vegetation area decreased by 486.77 hectares. Analysis of channel capacity shows that there is potential for overflow from existing channels in 7 sub-watersheds which will result in inundation. The conclusion of this study shows that rainfall over the past 20 years has been relatively stable and the morphometry of the watershed has not had much impact on downstream flooding, the main river capacity of the Babon DAS is still sufficient to accommodate the planned flood discharge with a return period of 25 years. So that inundation that occurs is more caused by changes in land cover and drainage capacity in the downstream.

Flood is one of the natural disasters that occur in Indonesia. Each region in Indonesia has a different flood hazard level. Therefore, a study was conducted to map the level of flood hazard in Jombang Regency, East Java. Remote sensing methods are used to map flood-prone areas, ArcMap software is used to map disaster-prone areas and mapping vegetation density. The data required is in the form of flood data index from Inarisk and Landsat 8 imagery data from USGS. From these data, four maps were generated, namely the vegetation density map and the flood hazard map in the Jombang area. From the vegetation density map, it can be seen from the value it determines the level of vegetation density in the area, while the flood hazard map is categorized into three hazard categories, namely low, medium and high. And it was found that the lower the level of vegetation density, the higher the level of flood hazard in the area, and vice versa and it is also known that the Brantas river affects flooding in Jombang. Then seen from the regional geology, the area of North Jombang absorbs air more quickly because it is composed of karst rocks. Judging from the area of the flood hazard level, the Jombang area is more dominant to the moderate hazard level.
