Abstract:One of the problems for the serious recorder player today is its repertoire, or rather a relative lack of it, both in quantity and in quality. Although there are some superb early music and contemporary pieces that have been written specifically for the recorder, professional recorder players often still rely on transcriptions and arrangements of flute, violin and other music in order to challenge and please themselves and their audiences.
