Abstract:An electronic compass watch microsystem has been designed and tested. The microsystem uses two micro-machined fluxgate magnetic sensors, and the angle calculation is based on the pulse position method. The compass has been designed to have an accuracy of one degree. The analogue and digital circuitry of the system fit on a single Sea-of-Gates array of 200k transistors. Together with the sensors and passive components it can be combined on a single Multi Chip Module.
