“…There have been only a few studies that have taken an international perspective of real estate research and journals (Chan et al , 2008; Newell et al , 2002; Ong et al , 2001) but all of these studies examined the amount of international research that was included in various journals. That is, the research topic was focused on providing evidence that international real estate research was being accepted as legitimate because it was appearing in publications, or the researchers examined the nationality of the team of researchers that were published in the given journal, providing evidence that the field of real estate research is becoming collaborative across country borders.…”

“…In contrast, PM is generally considered to be a UK journal, being published by UK-based Emerald Publishers, although, similar to PRPRJ, the editor is based in Australia. Similarly, IRER is associated with the Asian Real Estate Society, but based in the USA for much of its history (refer Chan et al, 2008). This particular aspect of internationalisation of journals needs further investigation, with the origin of authors and/or the origin of information for research published in a particular journal being a preferable guide to location of the publisher.…”

“…Hardin et al (2006) analysed journals in which the editorial board members of JREFE, JRER and REE published their research for the period 1997-2002, while Hardin et al (2007) provided a comparison of journal ranking based on journals cited in JREFE, JRER and REE for the period 2000-2004. Chan et al (2008) analysed the source of research from the international community in US journals for the time frame 1995-2005. Gibler et al (2009) made use of questionnaires to classify US journals into tiers and thereby provided a list of US journals for each tier.…”

“…Those papers highlight the dominance of US institutions on real estate research but also indicate a significant presence of Asian and European institutions. Analyzing papers published in REE, JREFE and JRER from 1973to 2008, Jin and Yu (2011 show that US institutions, not surprisingly, dominate research in real estate, although six non-US universities (three in Europe, two in Asia and one in Canada) appear within the top 50 institutions. Cashman and Fairbanks (2014) Of particular relevance to this paper, Chan et al (2008) assess the contributions of international researchers and institutions in nine real estate journals for the 1990 to 2006 period.…”

They report that both -the Asia-Pacific and European regions -have increased their influence on the top-tier of real estate literature.…”
