“…The studied trachytes show moderate initial 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratios of about 0.7117 and 0.7095, respectively (Hashad et al 1981). The initial 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratios for oceanic basalts of typical upper mantle origin range from 0.7020 to 0.7060 (Faure and Powell 1972) and for rocks of crustal origin are usually higher than 0.7100 (Faure and Hurley 1963). Accordingly, the rather moderate initial 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratios of the UKT and UST along with positive K, Rb, REE (La, Ce, Nd) anomalies in multi-element variation diagrams indicate that those rocks were derived from a mantle source with a vital role of crustal contamination.…”
