The joy of teaching the physics laboratory—Guest editorial

Abstract: One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching introductory physics has been the opportunity to teach the laboratory. The laboratory portion of my courses has given me a chance to interact closely with students, to better gauge their understanding of a specific physical principle, and to help develop ways for students to understand that principle. Because of this feedback, my laboratory instruction has evolved considerably over the years.
