The Knot Theory of Mind

Abstract: The aim of this article is to present The Knot Theory of Mind, my original psychological theory. I am providing a theoretical framework for the knot psychotherapy that is based on practicing the balance between positive and negative emotions and thoughts, healthy introspection, optimistic and realistic observations about life and healthy ideation process. Every emotion, feeling and thought are important in the process of healing. Positive emotions, love especially, are the cure for psychological traumas.

“…Gaslighting is widely described as a gendered phenomenon in which feminized subjects are made to question their positions (their perceptions, views, and interpretations of events) by those with more power, typically men. More broadly, Petric (2018) defines gaslighting as a form of manipulation using the strategies of denial, misdirection, contradiction, and lying to create doubt in the targeted individual or group making them doubt their own perception, memory, or even sanity. Black feminist scholars (Berenstain, 2020) use the term structural gaslighting to describe the systemic efforts (i.e., group-level actions) launched to sustain existing power structures by denying or obscuring the "patterns of harm they produce and license" (p. 733).…”

For additional perspective in relation to the gaslighting and the associated feelings and thinking of the victims of gaslighting focus groups were conducted.…”

“…Gaslighting in the psychological domain is explained as a type of psychological manipulation that develops doubt in the targeted individual or a group by making them question their own rationality, memory and perception. It uses use of constant misdirection, denial, lying and contradiction to destabilize and delegitimize the victim's belief (Dorpat, 1994;Petric, 2018). However, till now there is a scarcity of empirical research on such types of psychological and emotional abuse due to the lack of a reliable and valid instrument (Hightower, 2018).…”
