The Landscape of Iron Metabolism-Related and Methylated Genes in the Prognosis Prediction of Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma

Abstract: Background: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is characteristics of resistance to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The prognosis of ccRCC was dismay with immense diversity. Iron metabolism disturbance is a common phenomenon in ccRCC. The purpose of our study is to identify and validate the candidate prognostic gene signature of iron metabolism and methylation closely related to the poor prognosis of ccRCC through comprehensive bioinformatics analysis in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the Gene Expressio… Show more

“…HEME_METABOLIC_PROCESS, HALLMARK_HEME_ METABOLISM, and REACTOME_IRON_UPTAKE_AND_ TRANSPORT gene sets. We also reviewed the literature and added the previously reported genes (18,19). After removing overlapping genes, we obtained an iron metabolism-related gene set containing 527 genes.…”

“…The next-generation sequencing technology developed in recent years employs the whole genome sequencing method, which brings great advantages to multi-group data mining. Prior to this, some studies performed metabolic analysis for some types of cancer and constructed prognostic signatures for cancer prognosis monitoring, including clear cell renal cell carcinoma (35), endometrial adenocarcinoma (36) and glioma (37). This computational bioinformatics analysis can open different perspectives on the clinical application and potential pathological mechanisms of metabolic biomarkers at the macro level.…”

“…Over the past years, various biomarkers has been identi ed in many cancers with the great progress in epigenetics and metabolomics [23][24][25]. In the current study, we focused on whether GTs involved in the progression of HCC as well as being associated with the prognosis of HCC.…”
