Cl. -Pale grey-blue, transparent single crystals of the title compound are synthesized by the reaction of Ba, BaCl2, BN, and NaN3 (Ta ampoule, 1200 K, 3 d) and characterized by single crystal XRD, IR, and Raman spectroscopy. Ba2[BN2]Cl crystallizes in the space group I4132 with Z = 24. The complex three-dimensional structure contains Ba-centered prisms exhibiting four-fold interpenetration. The structure is completely different from the two-dimensional structure adopted by Ca2[BN2]Cl and Sr2[BN2]Cl. -(RECKEWEG*, O.; REIHERZER, J.; SCHULZ, A.; DISALVO, F. J.
