“…The area immediately east of the Lateran Basilica is of intense interest to the project for the same reasons as the Carlo Felice area, but here a range of evidence also points to the presence of major elements of the Lateran Patriarchium including perhaps the Triclinium of Leo III. Accordingly, we believe that a return to and expansion of earlier work we undertook as part of the Lateran Project in 2012 (Haynes, Liverani, Piro and Spinola 2013) is of considerable importance.…”

A great deal of significant progress in our understanding of sites has been made through the continued interrogation of TLS data during this year, with a notable highlight being the important work by Thea Ravasi on the SGL2 fieldwork project (Haynes et al, 2019; Ravasi et al, 2020) documentation which is now also feeding into the wider ROMETRANS effort. Of great interest in its own right, this work has also played an essential role in testing and the development of the ROMETRANS SCIEDOC system.…”

“…SGL2 research, funded through the British School at Rome (BSR) from a generous donation by Mr Peter Smith, takes place under the auspices of a convenzione with the Soprintendenza Speciale Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio di Roma, the University of Florence, Newcastle University, the Seinan Gakuin University of Fukuoka and the Azienda Ospedaliera San Giovanni-Addolorata. Previous work by the project has focussed on three areas, under Corsia Mazzoni (SGL2.1), south of Corsia Folchi (SGL2.2) and beneath the Scuola Infermiere on Via di San Giovanni in Laterano (SGL2.3) (Haynes et al , 2018; 2019).…”
