The level of sugars and synthesis of trehalose inAscaris suumtissues

Abstract: The activities of trehalose-6-phosphate synthase (TPS) and trehalose-6-phosphate phosphatase (TPP) were observed in muscles, individual parts of the reproductive system and haemolymph of Ascaris suum. The highest activity of TPS was detected in the upper uterus, while the lowest activity of TPS was detected in the ovary and oviduct of the nematode. Relatively high activity was detected in muscles, haemolymph and two remaining parts of the uterus. The TPP activity was the highest in lower length of the uterus, … Show more

“…The contents of fructose, trehalose, maltotriose, and saccharose were determined by HPLC. The protocols for sample preparation and analysis were based on the procedures described by Dmitryjuk et al (2009). Before HPLC, extracts were boiled for 5 min, two volumes of ethanol were added, and the probes were centrifuged after 15 min.…”

“…The activity of TPS and TPP was observed in A. suum tissues, excluding the cuticle and intestines (Dmitryjuk et al 2009). T6P synthase was isolated, and two genes encoding TPS -tps1 (jF412033.2) and tps2 (jF412034.2) -were sequenced from the muscles of A. suum (Dmitryjuk et al 2013).…”

“…Determination of soluble carbohydrates by means of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) Subsamples of 200 µl of hemolymph were taken for analysis, performed according to Dmitryjuk et al (2009). Carbohydrate chromatography was carried out in a SCL-10A chromatograph equipped with a RID-10A refractometric detector (Shimadzu), on a 250 × 4.6 mm High-Performance Carbohydrate cartridge column, at 55…”
