The Magmatic Rifting of Santos Basin: Aeromagnetic Mapping of Dykes, Terranes and Marginal Structures and the Interplay Between Tectonism and Volcanism
Abstract:The southeastern Brazilian margin resulted from the rifting of the Gondwana paleocontinent and the formation of the South Atlantic in the Early Cretaceous (Chang et al., 1992). Several tectonomagmatic events influenced the evolution of the margin until the Eocene. The magmatic pulses started with the formation of the intracontinental Paraná-Etendeka large igneous province (LIP) (Turner et al., 1994), followed by a series of small intrusions and plugs of alkaline affinity and extensive dyke swarms, well preserv… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
