The mass spectral analysis of several hydrazine derivatives

Abstract

The mass spectral analysis of 17 hydrazine derivatives of the type -2-(carboxypropionyl)-(nine compounds) and -2-(carboxyacryloyl)-(eight compounds) under electron impact is reported. The fragmentation has been rationalized from the exact mass measurements as well as the detection of metastable transitions. # 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. The -2-(carboxypropionyl)-and -2-(carboxyacryloyl)-hydrazines are used as growth stimulators.2 This paper discusses the fragmentation of 17 compounds which have the basic structure given in Table 1. EXPERIMENTALThe mass spectra for compounds 1-17 were obtained on a Finnigan Mat 311 (Finnigan MAT, Bremen, Germany) mass spectrometer using an electron impact source with 70 eV electron energy using a direct sample introduction system. Exact mass measurement was performed at 3500 resolution power (10% valley) using peak matching. The metastable transitions were detected by mass-analysed kinetic energy (MIKE) spectrometry and high voltage (HV) scanning. The compounds were synthesized at
