The measurement of isotopic cross sections of12C beam fragmentation on liquid hydrogen at 3.66 GeV/nucleon

Abstract: An experiment with 12 C beam fragmentation on a liquid hydrogen target has been performed using the magnetic spectrometer, Anomalon, equipped with a Cherenkov charge detector, and the Dubna synchrophasotron at a projectile energy of 3.66 GeV/nucleon. A charge resolution of 0.26e (except for the hydrogen nuclei) and a mass resolution of 0.11-0.18 amu have been achieved. Isotopic and elemental fragmentation cross sections have been obtained for fragments from Z = 1 to 6. Decayed cross sections have also been cal… Show more

“…These values are based on data summarised in Ref. [86][87][88][89][90][91][92]. We extend the result to account for He in the ISM, assuming number density n ISM = 0.9n H + 0.1n He and using the formula in Ref.…”

“…In [52] it is argued that this decrease is backed up by the data of Korejwo et al [67,68] Besides the spallation of nuclei on hydrogen, also the spallation on helium contributes significantly to the boron flux. In [86] it was suggested to account for scattering on helium by multiplying the protonic fragmentation cross sections by an energy-dependent enhancement factor of the form…”

“…Comparison between fragmentation model in DRAGON2 and measurements for the main channels fragmenting in 6 Li and 7 Li. Measurements shown with green (diamond) points are taken from GALPROP database, with red (circle) points from EXFOR and blue (triangle) from [36,37]. scaling phenomena for fragments reflect general properties of the reaction, and play a crucial role in the determination of semi-empirical formulae.…”
