The Meteorological Factors’ Part in Winter Durum Wheat Productivity Formation

Abstract: In the regions of insufficient and unstable moisture, hydrothermal conditions are the main natural factors that determine the level of crop productivity. The purpose of our study was to identify the role of the main meteorological factors in the formation of winter durum wheat productivity at different periods of its growth and development. The study was carried out in the southern part of the Rostov region in the FSBSI “Agricultural Research Center “Donskoy” in 2003–2014. The objects of the study were winter … Show more

“…N.E. Samofalova et al (2019) prove that the temperature regime plays a crucial role in the yield of winter durum wheat, and its productivity depends not on the total amount of precipitation, but on their distribution, the presence of moisture in the soil, and temperature. However, these studies were conducted in different soil and climatic conditions, which differ from the southern steppe of Ukraine.…”

“…Climatic and weather conditions have a significant impact on agricultural production since they largely determine the level of crop yields, product quality, production costs, and features of agrotechnical and technological measures [1,2]. The main factors of crop productivity also include the application of fertilizers, the use of plant protection products, and the implementation of appropriate tillage practices [3].…”

“…Therefore, in recent years, the farmers have paid great attention to improvement of the adaptability level of the new developing varieties. The analysis of this trait gave an opportunity to predict the variety response to unfavorable environmental conditions, which allowed realizing their potential productivity [4,5]. According to the above mentioned concept, the current winter barley breeding is aimed at developing the varieties with the improved adaptability, high and stable productivity with low energy and resource costs [6,7].…”
